My Day Starts With The Lettermen

When I fall in love, it will be

confusing. I’ll need a huge field of daisies

so I can play he loves me

he loves me not. A daisy works better

than my heart which I often misplace.

I promise forever,

but forever makes no promises.

Forever is like a genie. It can appear

where it wants or be invisible.

Some confusion shakes

things up, keeps me curious.

Others are like algebra, X and Y

playing tricks. So here we are,

naked in bed, making promises.

Night rattles the window. A firefly

lights up— and goes.
